Women’s Fiction Night Road

Night Road, by Kristin Hannah:

Women’s fiction NIGHT ROAD probes the hearts of motherless teen Lexi Baill, an interloper in the privileged Puget Sound community of Pine Island, and helicopter mom Jude Farraday, mother of Lexi’s new friend Mia and her brother Zach. Lexi and Jude both come to a deeper understanding of the true meaning of motherhood after a car accident results in Mia’s death, pregnant Lexi’s imprisonment, and Zach’s resultant single fatherhood. But just as Lexi and Zach deal with their guilt by taking responsibility for their actions, Jude can only overcome her grief by realizing that love is an act of will.
